Metadata, Dinosaurs, and Sailing (Oh My!)

We surprised our smartxers with a new finance reporting system, complete with more dimensions and less processing time!

Hey smartxers,

It’s been nearly a year since the rollout of our new data storage solution that replaced our proprietary (somewhat prehistoric) tech stack.

Since then, we’ve been basking in the extra storage capacity rays and dreaming of all the possibilities our new framework can bring… for only 10 minutes per day, 20 max. We are working really hard the rest of the time.

For example, this solid data storage foundation made it possible for us to upgrade finance reporting! Gone are the days of long processing times and getting kicked out of the reporting UI at the month’s close (ya know, right when you need it!). In the coming week, we’ll also lift restrictions that required financial reports with historical data older than three months to be scheduled overnight. You’ll be getting those bad boys the day of!

Over the last few weeks, we successfully transitioned to this new financial reporting system that pulls information directly from the metadata in smartx. We’ve named it…

Metadata Finance Reporting

It’s been smooth sailing so far since the rollout! Heck, we’re ready to go back to basking if there’s sailing involved ⛵, but we’ll wait for the end of the newsletter so we don’t leave you hanging. Since the release, we’ve seen a significant decrease in processing time and reduced load time for complex financial reports in smartx. We can now process over 90% of all financial reports in one-third of the time as we did before!

Frequent-finance smartxers may have also noticed the new dimensions available:

As we mentioned a few weeks ago, any adjustments made to the settings for financial calculations will take about 1-2 hours to be reflected in the financial reporting. This includes changes to supply prices, demand prices, costs, and fees.

Yours in smartx updates and letting dinosaurs down easy,
