A Forecast We Can All Appreciate 🌞

Sunny skies and new platform updates. Doesn’t get better than this!

Hey smartxers,

Sunny skies are in the forecast this week, and as we all emerge from our winter den, we’d like to just take a rare moment to not complain about the weather.

Forecaster Targeting

Warmer days are not the only forecast we’re looking forward to. Tomorrow, we’re adding three new targeting sections to the Forecaster to give users the ability to provide even more realistic forecasts. Please note that the following forecasting updates also apply to the smart Booking API.

1️⃣ Contextual Category

Last year, in cooperation with DoubleVerify, we integrated contextual targeting in the smartx platform. This feature made it possible to apply categorical targeting for Demand Business Rules and Direct Campaigns. We’re now extending this feature to the Forecaster. Simply navigate to the Targeting tab in the Forecast editor, as you would for a deal or campaign:

2️⃣ Brand Safety Category

The aforementioned DoubleVerify integration also applied to brand safety measures for Demand Business Rules and Direct Campaigns. This solution provided a simple way for advertisers to exclude content that has been classified as unsafe or unsuitable in smartx. Starting tomorrow, this feature will also be available in the Forecaster under the Targeting tab:

3️⃣ Consent

Additionally, the same Consent targeting option that is available for deals and campaigns will also be available in the Forecaster. Located under the new Contextual Category and Brand Safety Category dropdowns in the Targeting tab, smartxers can use Consent targeting in the Forecaster to realistically simulate deals that are flagged as Vegan to target opt-out users.

That’s Not All…

Separate from forecasting improvements, but giving us warm feelings nonetheless, tomorrow’s release will also include another efficiency improvement for Demand Business Rules. Users will no longer need to specify separate spot length restrictions per ad type when setting Creative Restrictions in the Creatives tab. Instead, the minimum and maximum duration will apply to all ad types associated with the deal.

This also applies to the smart Booking API.

Your in platform updates and giving those meteorologists a big pat on the back,
