Everybody Wants to Be a Cat 🐈

If cooling temps don’t scream “cuddle up on the couch with your cat and enjoy reading our platform updates”, we don’t know what does.

A kitten plays in the leaves. Copy reads, I have been waiting for this all year.

Hey smartxers,

While the dog days of summer are officially over, the cat days of autumn have just begun! It’s finally time to cosy up on the couch with your loved ones, sip on warm milk, lay down on the keyboard, and groom yourself for a few hours 😻.

All of this can be done while reading product updates, so enjoy!

Segment targeting purrfection

Successful segment targeting requires users to purrfectly enter the smartx pixel IDs. To ensure this purrfect placement, we made some tweaks to the Segment targeting section under the Targeting tab for Demand Business Rules, Line Items, and Line Item Bundles. Now, there will be a more detailed validation in place (similar to what we have for Custom Key Value targeting) to guide users in inputting the correct Boolean expressions.

The syntax for the segment targeting has changed as well. Previously, users could enter segment pixel IDs to the field, e.g. “70”. From now on, the segment pixel key and an operator must be included. So in this example, a user would instead input “segment_pixel=70”. The input field will contain examples as a reminder, similar to the screenshot above. If there are any mistakes in the input field, a notification will appear with error details.

Day and time targeting for copycats

Monday: eat, sleep, repeat. Tuesday: eat, sleep, repeat. Wednesday: eat, sleep, repeat. Thursday-Sunday? You get it. Every day is the same for some cats… and the same goes for some campaigns and deals.

We’ve added a copy functionality to the Day and Time targeting settings for campaigns, deals, and forecasting. This will allow users to copy the Day and Time targeting settings from one day of the week to the rest of the week.

Simply select which day you’d like to copy settings from and click Copy to apply to the other days of the week.

No cat naps for the Out-Stream Player

Cool cats have been grooving non-stop since we updated the SDK and announced our latest IAB certification. The party isn’t over though. We also updated our Out-Stream Player to version 5.3.0 so that it is able to run on smartclientcore 6.0 and support Open Measurement (OM) according to the IAB Tech Lab standard.

It’s imperative that our industry adopts standardised ways to measure viewability, so we are paw-sitively proud that smartclip is among the first companies to be certified by the IAB Tech Lab for integrating the OM SDK for Web Video. Check out this blog post from the IAB detailing the list of companies who were first to jump on board!

Herding additional cats

  • Last month, we introduced new brand safety and contextual targeting sections in the UI. This is now available in the smart Booking API for Direct Campaigns.
  • We’ve refactored Redirect and Custom creatives to reduce the complexity of the code structure. There are no changes in functionality, but you may notice some structural changes so that they are aligned with other VAST creatives.

Yours in platform updates, here and meow,
