Can’t Read Our Poker Face? 🃏

This week’s release is full of some pretty big deals! We’re talking RTB, not Las Vegas. Well, what the heck… let’s talk Vegas😏.

Here’s an overview of what we’re betting on:

  • Device Settings: Improved Media Type classification
  • External Reference: New field for programmatic deals
  • Ad Products: New dropdown menu for programmatic deals
  • Creative Improvements: Creative Duration update and new reporting dimension

Going “all in” under Device Settings 🃏

A simplified setup is in the cards for smartxers who like to hover over the Supply table. We’ve added a new “Step 1” popup window to appear when adding new Device Settings in the Supply tab. Users will now have to select the Owner Marketplace and Media Type before entering the Device Settings editor.

Once in the Device Settings editor, you’ll find that Creative Tags have moved from Targeting to the Basic tab. Additionally, the Encoding tab will now exclusively contain fields relevant to the selected Media Type.

There will also be a new Media Type filter in the Device Settings grid. This will make it easier to differentiate the Media Type between each setting and will pave the way for future developments.

A royal External Reference flush 👑

We’re not bluffing with this new feature for programmatic deals. The External Reference field, which is used to help our publishers and broadcasters connect smartx data with their internal systems, is now available for deals under Demand Business Rules (DBR). The field can be found under the Advanced tab of the DBR editor and as a filter to the DBR grid.

Raking in the Ad Products 🎰

There’s a new dropdown in DBR town. The same Ad Product dropdown menu for Direct Campaigns will now be available for programmatic deals in the  DBR editor (as well as the smart Booking API). This will give users a better overview of the types of ad products being used for each deal.

Creative jackpot 💰

We’re bringing home big money with these creative updates. The Creative Duration for VAST linear creatives (Video/Audio/DASH) must have a duration longer than 0 seconds. After tomorrow’s release, you will no longer be able to enter 0 as the duration (unless you like error messages 👀).

It’s also now possible to report on Creative Duration in the Reporting UI and API. This will be reported in buckets and is only available when the duration of a creative is provided in the VAST data.

Yours in product updates and putting our money on red for smartclip,
