Here at smartclip, we were the nerdy kids whose parents had a “my child is an honour student” bumper sticker on their car. Well, namely the American writers on the team — we know bumper stickers aren’t quite as popular in Europe (unless you have a “baby on board” or you only “brake for animals” 😃). And we get it, who in their right mind would put a sticker on the bumper of a brand new Volkswagen?!
Speaking of bumpers… we’ve got a hot new update for you (rest assured it’s not a sticker).
Bumper ads are short-form video ads (e.g. between 5–10 seconds long) that are used for promotional purposes or as regular commercial ads. We will support two bumper versions in the future, of which this update is the first. The purpose of this version is to deliver bumper ads before or after a video ad break in a separate “bumper pod”. Users can now define how many bumper ads should be displayed per pod and/or buffet and the minimum and maximum duration of the bumper ads, both separately for all pods and for bumpers before and after the main pod.
To apply the new settings for bumper ad types, go to the Supply section under Delivery Settings and edit Ad Rules. Under the Basic tab, bumper settings are shown within the main ad type (PREROLL, MIDROLL, POSTROLL) and are split between “bumpers before the pod” and “bumpers after the pod”. Expect a second update from us soon.
Please note that bumper ads are only visible if they have been activated for the owner marketplace/client. This functionality can be requested and set up with assistance from account management.
