🤖 Sorry Not Sorry for the Daft Puns

Deal setup is smarter, faster, and stronger — Just like our favourite (retired) French robots.

2 smartclip characters wear Daft Punk helmets and wave to signify retirement. Copy reads, I forgot what my face looks like.

Dear smartxers,

Twenty-eight years is a long time to wear a mask, but everyone’s favourite French robots, otherwise known as Daft Punk, decided that now is the best time to take theirs off. We’re not sure if they are aware about what da funk is going on around the world, but now seems like the absolute worst time to remove your mask. But what do we know? Maybe they’ll get lucky —or maybe French robots can’t catch viruses.

Easy, better, faster, stronger

We’ve been examining every nook and cranny of Demand Business Rules to simplify deal setup. This week, we’ve improved Financial Settings and removed the Delivery Tab in the deal editor.

Tech Costs Restrictions

We’ve added some restrictions to Tech Costs, a Financial Setting for Demand Business Rules, so that users are only able to select the Tech Costs associated with the marketplace of the Demand Contract. This will eliminate potential user error of selecting incorrect information when setting up a deal.

Delivery Tab Removal

The Delivery tab in the deal editor has been removed in an effort to make a more logical setup process. All settings that were under this tab will move to the Basic or Advanced tab, depending on the Deal Type.

All delivery settings for guaranteed deals (Direct Guaranteed and Programmatic Guaranteed) will be under a new section in the Basic tab: Delivery Settings for Guaranteed Deals. Here, users can adjust the Pacing and Frequency Cap selections.

These delivery settings are rarely, if ever, used for non-guaranteed deals. Though, if there is ever a case that a non-guaranteed deal requires a frequency cap, it can be found in the Advanced tab.

Digital love for the SDK

We successfully updated to version 2.3.0 of smartclientandroid, our SDK for Android devices. The new version is based on smartclientcore 5.1.4 and is able to support closed captions in VAST tags. The new version also improves timeout and error handling.

Lose yourself to additional improvements

  • External Identifier Dimensions: We introduced an optional External Identifier field for Advertisers and Agencies a couple weeks ago. It is now possible to report on this information using the “Advertiser Reference” and “Agency Reference” dimensions available in the Reporting UI and smart API.
  • MRSS Reader Introduction: We finished the first elements of a broader initiative to support the ingestion of metadata through an MRSS feed.

Yours in smartx updates and hoping for a reunion tour so we can see Daft Punk ONE MORE TIME
