Tour de smartx 🚴‍♂️

At smartclip, we may not be expert cyclists, but we do know how to reach an audience in record time and without any performance enhancers (not counting coffee). Check out our latest updates here!

Hey smartx-ers,

Vive le Tour de France! During the three-week cycling challenge, riders can wear out 792 tires and sweat an average of 1.5 litres per hour, all while travelling 3,500 km. The fact that the competitors ride through some of the prettiest regions in France is probably why the event remains more popular than the Olympics, despite the potential for a sweat splash zone.

At smartclip, we may not be expert cyclists, but we do know how to reach an audience in record time and without any performance enhancers (not counting coffee). Check out our latest updates here!

Geo targeting now as easy as riding a bicycle

Take this news for a spin – Geo targeting is now available in Forecasting! Similar to the update in Demand Business Rules, the new menu combines the previously separated Country, Region, and City settings. Simply navigate to the Demand section and, under Direct, select the Targeting tab in the Forecast editor.

Users will have a Match all option (where the location must match at least one of the selected Countries, Regions, and Cities at each level) and a Match one option (to match at least one selected entry within a Country, Region, or City).

Wheelie great news about bumper ads

Pump the breaks and get a load of this update! Bumper ads are short-form video ads (e.g. between 5–10 seconds long) that are used for promotional purposes or as regular commercial ads. They can also be delivered before or after an ad break. We have now made adjustments to smartx which adds new bumper ad types to the creative restriction settings within placement groups in Pre-Roll, Post-Roll, and Mid-Roll. To activate, go to Supply and then Inventory and select Placement Groups. When editing, the new creative settings can be found under the Basic tab. Please note that bumper ads are only visible if they have been activated for the owner marketplace/client. This functionality can be requested and set up with assistance from account management.

Rollin’ along with creative rotation

Let’s now shift into another gear. Creative Rotation is a functionality that allows the user to either define the sequence in which the creatives of a line item will be shown (e.g. creative 1, then creative 3, then creative 2) or the weight of each creative (e.g. creative 1 should make up 60% of the impressions, creative 2 makes up 30% of the impressions, and creative 3 makes 10%).

Previously, creative rotation settings could not be defined within line item bundles and always had to be managed on line item level. We have now made adjustments to Demand under Direct Campaigns so that creative rotation settings can be added to the creative presets in line item bundles and then be applied to all line items using the creative presets.

To access the presets, select Add/Edit Line Item Bundle and go to the Creative tab under presets. A drop-down for Creative rotation settings will be visible. If the creative sequence position and/or weighted options are selected, the selected columns will be shown in the grid.
