Ad injection is when ads are inserted on apps, web pages, etc. without the consent of – or payment to – the publisher or site operator. A form of invalid traffic (IVT)/fraud, software developers make deals with ad injectors, bundling the software into browser extensions or apps. When these are downloaded by the user, the software injects the ads into the user’s browser, where they appear over an original ad, block the view of it or replace it completely, or appear on pages without ads.
